01Scope and who we are

Playgen Studio ("Playgen Studio", "we", "us" or "our") is an independent software and game development studio. We are the party responsible for the personal data described in this policy, the "data controller" under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the equivalent "business" under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

This policy covers all Playgen Studio products, which we refer to collectively as the "Services":

  • Our mobile, PC, console and web games, on every store we distribute through, including Google Play, the Apple App Store and any other storefront;
  • Our websites, including playgenstudio.com;
  • Support channels, contact forms and email correspondence with us.

Applications covered by this policy

  • All games and applications published by Playgen Studio
  • playgenstudio.com and its subpages

Where a specific title collects data differently from what is described here (for example a title that collects nothing at all), that is disclosed in the Data Safety or Privacy Nutrition Label section of that title's store listing, which takes precedence for that individual app.

02Summary at a glance

The short version. The detailed sections below control in case of any conflict.

03Information we collect

We collect the minimum information needed to run, support and improve our Services. What is actually collected depends on which title you use and which features you choose to use.

a. Information you give us directly

  • Account information: if a title offers an account or sign-in, the identifier you sign in with (for example a Google Play Games, Apple or email identifier) and a display name or nickname you choose.
  • Support correspondence: your email address and the contents of any message you send us, including anything you voluntarily include such as screenshots or device details.
  • User-generated content: nicknames, avatars, custom levels or similar content you create, where a title offers it.

b. Information collected automatically

  • Device and technical data: device model, manufacturer, operating system and version, screen resolution, language, country or region (derived from IP, not GPS), time zone and available memory.
  • Identifiers: an advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android, Identifier for Advertisers on iOS), and/or a randomly generated app-instance identifier used to recognise your installation.
  • IP address: processed to deliver content, derive an approximate country-level region and detect fraud and abuse. We do not use IP addresses to determine your precise location.
  • Gameplay and usage data: session start and length, levels reached, in-game progress, feature usage, settings chosen and similar analytics events.
  • Diagnostic data: crash logs, stack traces, error messages and performance measurements such as frame rate or load times.
  • Purchase confirmations: a token or receipt from the store confirming a purchase is valid. See In-app purchases.

c. Information we do not collect

We never collect

Precise or GPS location, contacts, photos or media libraries, SMS or call logs, microphone or camera input, browsing history outside our Services, biometric data, health data, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or any other special category of data under the GDPR. We also do not ask for or store payment card numbers. See In-app purchases.

04How we use information

We use the information described above only for the following purposes:

  • To operate the Services: run the game, save your progress, sync cloud saves and display leaderboards or achievements.
  • To maintain and improve quality: diagnose crashes, fix bugs, measure performance and understand which features are used so we can improve them.
  • To provide support: respond to your questions, investigate reported issues and restore lost progress or purchases.
  • To deliver and measure advertising: show ads in free titles, limit repetition and measure whether ads worked. See Advertising.
  • To process and validate purchases: confirm with the store that a purchase is genuine and unlock the content you bought.
  • To keep the Services safe: detect and prevent cheating, fraud, abuse and violations of our terms.
  • To meet legal obligations: comply with applicable law, tax and accounting requirements, and respond to lawful requests.

No automated decision-making

We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

05Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

PurposeLegal basis
Running the game, saving progress, delivering purchased contentPerformance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b))
Crash reporting, security, fraud and cheat prevention, basic aggregate analyticsLegitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)), for keeping our Services working and secure
Cookieless, self-hosted website analytics that stores no personal identifierLegitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)), for understanding how our website is used, with minimal impact on privacy
Personalised advertising and associated trackingConsent (Art. 6(1)(a)), obtained before any such processing begins
Optional analytics where consent is required by local lawConsent (Art. 6(1)(a))
Keeping transaction and tax recordsLegal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c))

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. Withdrawing consent for personalised ads does not remove ads; it means the ads you see are non-personalised.

06Advertising and the advertising ID

Some of our free titles are supported by advertising. Ads are served by third-party advertising networks, which may use your device's advertising identifier and non-precise, country-level location to select ads, cap how often you see the same ad, and measure results.

Advertising networks act as independent controllers of the data they collect through their SDKs. Their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, linked in Third-party services.

Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Where required, we present a consent request before any personalised advertising or associated tracking takes place. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised, selected on the basis of general context rather than your activity. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy or settings menu inside the game.

How to limit ad tracking yourself

  • Android: Settings › Google › All services › Ads, where you can delete or reset your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalisation.
  • iOS / iPadOS: Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking, where you can turn off "Allow Apps to Request to Track". We also present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt where it applies.

Children and advertising

Users identified as children, and all users of titles directed at children, are never shown personalised or interest-based advertising, and no advertising identifier is used for them. See Children's privacy.

07Analytics and crash reporting

In our games

We use analytics and crash-reporting tools to understand how our games perform in the real world: which levels are too hard, where players stop playing and which devices crash. This data is reviewed in aggregate. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or to identify you personally.

Typical events include: app opened, level started, level completed, level failed, session length, settings changed, purchase completed and crash occurred, each accompanied by device and app version information.

Crash reports may incidentally include limited technical state from the moment of the crash, such as memory addresses, the active scene and the app's own log output. We do not deliberately place personal information into crash logs.

On our website

Our website uses Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to count visits and understand which pages are useful. Two things make this different from most website analytics:

  • We host it ourselves. Umami runs on our own server. Your visit data is not sent to Google, to the makers of Umami, or to any other company. There is no third party involved, and nothing to share or sell.
  • It uses no cookies. Nothing is stored on your device, and you are not tracked from one website to another.

What it records for each page view:

  • The page you viewed and the page that referred you to it;
  • Your browser, operating system, device type and screen size;
  • Your language and your country (country only, never a precise location).

No cookie banner, because there are no cookies

Umami does not store your IP address. Your IP is used momentarily to derive your country and to compute a one-way, irreversible hash that lets us count a repeat visit within the same day; that hash is regenerated daily and cannot be traced back to you or linked across days. Because nothing is stored on your device and no personal identifier is kept, we do not need to show you a cookie consent banner, and we do not. This data is never used for advertising.

08In-app purchases

We never see your payment details

All payments are processed by the platform store: Google Play, the Apple App Store or the relevant storefront. Your card number, bank details, billing address and full name are handled entirely by that store and are never transmitted to or stored by Playgen Studio.

What we receive is a purchase token or receipt that lets us verify the purchase is genuine and unlock the content you bought, together with the product identifier, the purchase timestamp and the purchase status. We keep these records to restore purchases, handle refunds and support requests, and satisfy accounting obligations.

Refunds, subscription management and billing disputes are handled by the store you purchased from, under that store's policies.

09Accounts, cloud save and leaderboards

Some titles offer optional accounts so you can save progress across devices, appear on leaderboards or unlock achievements. These features are optional; the core game is playable without them.

  • Sign-in: when you sign in through a provider such as Google Play Games or Apple, we receive an opaque user identifier and your chosen display name. We do not receive your password.
  • Cloud save: your game progress is stored against that identifier so it can be restored on a new device.
  • Leaderboards: if you choose to submit a score, your display name and score become visible to other players. Do not use your real name as a display name if you would prefer not to be identified.

You can stop using these features at any time by signing out, and you can request deletion of the associated data as described in Deleting your data.

10Third-party services we may use

Depending on the title, we may integrate one or more of the services below. Not every title uses every service; the Data Safety or privacy label on each store listing reflects what that particular title actually uses.

We select providers that offer appropriate safeguards, and for titles aimed at children we use only services and configurations approved for that purpose.

Our website analytics is not a third party

Umami, the analytics tool used on our website, is deliberately absent from the table above. We run it on our own server, so website visit data is never transmitted to an outside company. See Analytics and crash reporting.

11Children's privacy

Some Playgen Studio titles are directed at children, and others are aimed at a general or teen-and-up audience. Each title's intended age group is stated on its store listing and in its content rating.

Titles directed at children

For any title we designate as child-directed or as part of the Google Play Families programme, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR's provisions on children's data, the Google Play Families Policy and Apple's Kids Category requirements. For those titles:

  • We do not collect personal information from children beyond what is strictly necessary to run the app.
  • We do not use the advertising identifier, and we do not serve personalised or interest-based advertising. Any advertising shown is contextual only and age-appropriate.
  • We do not permit third-party SDKs to collect data for advertising or profiling purposes, and we use only SDKs certified as suitable for child-directed services.
  • We do not offer social features, open chat, or the ability to share personal information with other users.
  • Links out of the app, including to external websites and stores, are placed behind a parental gate where required.

Titles for general or teen-and-up audiences

These titles are not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country, which may be up to 16 in parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age through them. Where a title uses a neutral age screen, the age you enter determines whether child-appropriate protections are applied.

Parents and guardians

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, contact us at [email protected] with the game name and any detail that helps us locate the data. We will verify the request and delete the information promptly, normally within 30 days.

12Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your data

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA and comparable US state privacy laws. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.

We disclose information only in these situations:

  • Service providers: the providers listed in Third-party services, which process data on our instructions or, for advertising networks, as independent controllers under their own policies.
  • Platform stores: Google, Apple and other storefronts, in connection with distribution, purchases and platform services.
  • Legal requirements: where we are required to do so by law, regulation, legal process or an enforceable governmental request, or where disclosure is necessary to investigate fraud, protect our rights or protect the safety of any person.
  • Business transfers: if Playgen Studio is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will give notice through this page before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
  • Publicly, at your direction: a display name and score you choose to submit to a leaderboard.

13Data retention

We keep information only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, then delete or anonymise it.

DataRetention period
Analytics and gameplay eventsUp to 14 months, then deleted or aggregated into non-identifiable statistics
Crash and diagnostic logsUp to 90 days
Website analytics (Umami, self-hosted)Up to 24 months. It contains no personal identifier, so it cannot be linked back to you
Account and cloud save dataWhile the account is active, and for 12 months after it becomes inactive, unless you ask us to delete it sooner
Purchase and transaction recordsAs long as required by applicable tax and accounting law, typically up to 7 years
Support correspondenceUp to 24 months after the issue is resolved
Advertising identifiersRetained by the advertising network under its own policy; not stored in our own systems

14Security

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption of data in transit using TLS, encryption at rest for stored account data, access controls that limit who on our side can reach production data, and the use of reputable infrastructure providers.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal data and is likely to result in a high risk to your rights, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority as required by law.

15International data transfers

Our Services are available worldwide, and the providers we use operate infrastructure in several countries. Your information may therefore be processed in a country other than the one you live in, where data protection law may differ.

Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the transfer is made under an appropriate safeguard recognised by law, typically the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum where applicable), or a valid adequacy decision. You can request further detail about these safeguards using the contact details below.

16Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you may ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete it. We honour these requests for every user, not only those covered by a specific law.

If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland (GDPR)

  • Access: obtain confirmation of whether we process your data and a copy of it.
  • Rectification: have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Erasure: have your data deleted, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data while a concern is resolved.
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling.
  • Withdraw consent: at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Complain: lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA) or another US state

  • Know: what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and the categories of recipients.
  • Delete: request deletion of personal information we collected from you.
  • Correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of; you may still turn off ad personalisation on your device.
  • Non-discrimination: we will not deny service, charge a different price or provide a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.

Making a request

Email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request", telling us which right you wish to exercise and which game or service it concerns. We respond within 30 days, and will tell you if we need longer because the request is complex. To protect your data we may ask for information that lets us confirm the request relates to you or your device, for example the in-game player ID, where the title displays one. An authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with written proof of authorisation.

17Deleting your data

Account and data deletion request

To delete your account and associated data, email [email protected] with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". No account is needed to make the request, and there is no charge.

What to include

  • The name of the game or app;
  • Your in-game player ID or display name, if the title has one (it is usually shown in the game's Settings screen);
  • The platform you play on (Android, iOS, PC or other);
  • Whether you want the entire account deleted, or only specific data.

In-app deletion, where the game offers it

Some of our titles let you delete your account from inside the game, usually under Settings › Account › Delete Account. This option is not available in every title.

If your game does not have that option, or you cannot find it, simply email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Data Deletion Request", and we will carry out the deletion for you. Email works for every Playgen Studio title, on every platform, whether or not the game has an in-app option. You will never be left without a way to delete your data.

Uninstalling a game removes local data from your device, but does not by itself delete data already stored on our servers.

What happens after you ask

We acknowledge requests within 7 days and complete deletion within 30 days of verifying the request. Copies held in encrypted backups are removed on the normal backup rotation, within 90 days at the latest.

DeletedRetained, and why
Account identifier and display name Purchase and transaction records, limited to what tax and accounting law requires, for up to 7 years
Cloud save and game progress Aggregated, anonymised statistics that can no longer be linked to you or your device
Leaderboard and achievement entries A record that a deletion request was made and completed, to demonstrate compliance
Analytics events linked to your app instance Limited records needed to prevent fraud, abuse or ban evasion, where applicable
Support correspondence, on request Nothing

Deletion is permanent

Deleted game progress, purchases tied to an account and leaderboard standings cannot be recovered. Purchases made through a platform store may still be restorable through that store; contact the store directly.

18Device permissions

Our games request as few permissions as possible, and only at the point a feature needs them. You can refuse or later revoke any of them in your device settings; the game remains playable, with the related feature unavailable.

PermissionWhy it may be requested
Internet / network stateLoad content, sync cloud saves, serve ads and check connectivity
NotificationsSend optional gameplay reminders and event alerts, only if you allow them
VibrationHaptic feedback during gameplay
Storage / media (legacy Android)Store game assets and save files on the device
App Tracking Transparency (iOS)Ask permission before any tracking for personalised advertising

19Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our games, the services we use, or the law change. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page always reflects the current version, and earlier versions are superseded on publication.

If a change is material, for example a new category of data or a new purpose for existing data, we will give prominent notice before it takes effect, through an in-game notice, a store listing update, or both. Where the change requires it, we will ask for your consent again. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

20Contact us
